Small exercises, meaningful changes

A stronger bond is not built by demanding more obedience.

It grows through the small things you do together every day: noticing what your dog enjoys, rewarding behavior you want to see, giving appropriate choices, playing together and learning how to get each other’s attention.

You do not need hours of training. Every day gives you one simple idea or exercise to try, often as part of something you were already going to do.

More attention

Make checking in, responding to a name and reconnecting during walks more worthwhile.

Better communication

Notice useful behavior and make rewards and expectations clearer.

More calm

Practice waiting, settling and self-control without turning every moment into a correction.

More fun together

Discover the food, toys, games, sniffing and activities your dog values most.

Learn what matters to your dog

The reward is whatever your dog wants to work for.

For one dog, chicken may beat every commercial treat. Another would rather chase a toy. Another may value the chance to sniff a particular patch of grass more than either.

Understanding those preferences gives you more ways to reward your dog and makes training less mechanical. Your dog gets a say in what actually counts as a reward.

Frequently asked questions

Before you start.

Is this an obedience course?

Not really. You will improve useful skills such as attention, name response and self-control, but the main purpose is to improve the way you and your dog communicate and work together.

How much time do I need every day?

Most exercises only take a few minutes. Some can simply be incorporated into your normal walk or playtime.

Is this only for young dogs?

No. The program is suitable for puppies, adolescent dogs and adult dogs.

My dog is easily distracted. Is that a problem?

No. Several exercises specifically help make attention and interaction with you more rewarding.

Does the program use corrections?

The emphasis is on reinforcement, preventing unwanted behavior where possible and teaching your dog what you do want.

Do I need special equipment?

No. Most exercises use things you probably already have, such as treats, toys and your dog’s normal walking equipment.
